Stranda
Stranda is the municipal centre and the largest village in Stranda municipality. Here you will find a strong business community, plenty of jobs and a good range of services, activities and places to meet. Most things are close by, and there is a lot to take part in – both at work and in your free time.
A true industrial village
Stranda has long and strong industrial traditions. This is where Grandiosa was created, this is where Strandaskinka comes from, and the village is still home to several industrial companies, large and small. The food industry is strong here, with production of pizza, cured meats and seafood, and Norsk Sjømat is one of several large employers in the village.
Industry has created jobs and expertise through generations, and it is still an important part of Stranda's identity. At the same time, you will find a broad business community in retail, tourism, construction, services and the public sector.

Most of what you need day to day
As the municipal centre, Stranda has many of the municipality's services gathered in one place. The municipal administration is here, and the village has four kindergartens and two upper secondary schools – Stranda vidaregåande skule and Vestborg vidaregåande skule.
In the centre you will find three grocery shops, several other shops and services, and three cafés and bakeries. Here you will also find Storfjord kulturhus, the cultural centre, with a cinema, library, school of music and arts, and events throughout the year.
And then there is Skinkerådhuset, the Ham Town Hall – the former town hall, bought by Stranda/Grilstad and given a new name. A slightly different touch in the village centre.

Plenty to do
At Mona you will find the football stadium, and Strandahallen is just nearby. The village has three gyms, a golf course and an active sports and club scene.
Up at Strandafjellet, the ski resort is only a few minutes from the centre. From the top of Roalden you look out over Storfjorden and the surrounding mountains, and this is where many of the iconic photos of Stranda are taken: skiers high in the mountains with the fjord far below. Here you can literally ski from the mountain down towards the fjord. It is a view we never quite get used to.
And it is easy to get outdoors without skis too. You can go for a walk or a run after work, play golf, swim or use the fjord – without much planning or travel time.
Koie and Storfjord Kulturhus are two of the biggest culture and entertainment venues in the village. Koie offers cabin rental and camping, but is also an important meeting place for nightlife and events. Koie Lavvo hosts pub nights, quizzes, concerts and larger festival concerts through the year. Storfjord Kulturhus has a wide cultural programme with cinema, concerts, performances and quizzes. There are good events here all year round.
